Lymington Cricket Club - Formed 1805
Lymington CC Review 2002 (written by Dan Peacock)
Our pre-season training culminated in some convincing pre-season wins. The players looked to be
back in the mould, but in the opening SPL2 game at Hungerford this did not prove to be the case.
We managed to lose our way in the run chase, with a few getting more lost than others!
The wake-up call was taken and the team performances began to improve both on and off the field.
Western Australian U19 all-rounder Aaron Heal, with 629 runs and 31 wickets, proved to be a
useful person to have in the side and not just for cricket! The younger members of the team
began to take on more responsibility and their performances improved.
Everything was on track for the title until our crunch match against the Hampshire Academy, whom
we had defeated at home earlier in the season. Sadly this proved to be a match where little
went according to plan, but full credit to the guys, they fought hard and almost pulled off the
impossible!!
All in all, a pretty good season - Danny Peacock (578 runs and 31 wickets) and Ben Craft (460)
making their mark - with lots of potential for a winning 2003 season using the valuable
experience earned by the younger members.
