DID U KNOW...

Which Indian was called for chucking in the 1982-83 Barbados Test?
(12 April 2002)

The fourth Test on the 1982-83 Indian tour of the West Indies saw the hosts seal the series with a 10-wicket win, and the match itself, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, was dominated completely by Clive Lloyd's team.

Andy Roberts took four wickets in bowling out India for only 209 in the first innings, with Mohinder Amarnath (91) offering the only resistance. The host batsmen then swung into action. Desmond Haynes made 92, Viv Richards hit 80, and Gus Logie starred with 130; West Indies notched up 486, gaining an upper hand if there ever was one.

Roberts took four more wickets in India's second innings, and yet again Amarnath stoutly scored 80 while, barring Anshuman Gaekwad (55), the rest of the batting fell apart. India improved on their first-innings performance, but their score of 277 set the West Indies a paltry target of one run.

All thoughts of victory rendered laughable, Kapil Dev tossed the ball to Syed Kirmani. The wicket-keeper delivered one legal delivery but was no-balled for chucking his second, giving the West Indies their win.
