Three days of rain meant that the pitch and outfield at
Potchefstroom was initially unfit for play. But hessians,
rollers, blowers and helicopters were all pressed into service,
as the two damp patches on the side of the pitch were quickly
dried up, allowing the game to get under way. The toss was won by
Netherlands who asked Australia to bat in a match reduced to a
47-overs-a-side affair.
