Pakistan were in real trouble after Shahid Afridi, celebrating
his 23rd birthday, played a reckless shot to get out cheaply.
They were 208/6 in the 42nd over, the brittle Pakistan middle-order failing once again. Younis Khan played sensibly to make 32 off 36 balls, adding 48 valuable runs for the seventh wicket
partnership with Rashid Latif. The Pakistan wicket-keeper, made
29 off 25 balls, even though a bouncer hit him. Wasim Akram
smashed a couple of boundaries off the last two balls, and Pakistan had
scored 273/7 in their allotted 50 overs. A change in fortune for Ashish Nehra, the hero against England, he went for 72 runs off his ten overs.
