The West Indies reply got off to a slow yet steady start - 34 runs
were scored in 9.2 overs before the first wicket fell. This brought
the rejuvenated Brian Lara to the crease. On Thursday, however, the
Prince of Trinidad would score just two runs before a smart bit of
fielding involving Lou Vincent and Chris Cairns contributed to his run
out. It was a blow that inspired New Zealand and deflated the West
Indies, who went on to lose three more top order wickets for the
addition of just 10 runs.
