Harbhajan Singh destroyed the Aussies by scalping 32 wickets in the three Test series. Harbhajan's performance had outdone the previous best wicket tally for an Indian in a Test series against Australia, beating legendary left arm spinner Bishen Singh Bedi's haul of 31 wickets in 1977-78 in Australia. What makes the feat especially commendable is the fact that Harbhajan notched up his wickets in three Tests as against Bedi's five. What adds more shine to a glowing record is the fact that the next in the list of Indian wicket takers for the series had just 3 wickets to his name! But wait, all this was not enough for Harbhajan. When the tension was at its greatest, at Chennai in the deciding Test Harbhajan Singh came through unscathed. Batting through the last few overs where the tension mounted unbearably, it was Harbhajan Singh, with a positive approach, who scored the winning runs and sealed a fantastic Indian victory.
