Beginning with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in the two Test series, Wright set his sights firmly on the visiting Aussies. With Anil Kumble out because of an injury, the Indian coach focussed his attention on off spinner Harbhajan Singh. Working hard on the basics, Wright saw Harbhajan as a potential match-winner. As it turned out, the Indian coach was perfect in his assessment, with Harbhajan Singh scalping 32 wickets and leading India to a famous 2-1 victory. A major home series win under his belt, Wright now faces his first overseas assignment as India travel to Zimbabwe to play two Tests and a triangular One-Day series.
