Sourav Ganguly has a weakness against the short and rising stuff, and the fast bowlers are only too happy to dish it out to him. Dilhara Fernando had good success in Sri Lanka; now the South African bowlers are also making most of Ganguly's weakness. The India skipper's Test record is 3041 runs in 47 Tests at an average of 41.09, his second innings record is only slightly better - 1187 runs at 42.39. Against South Africa, he has scored 379 runs off eight Tests at an average of 23.68. The second innings record is not that heartening either - 174 runs at 25.62, not the kind of stuff that is ideal to lead the team to victory.
