Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar averages above 80 against England in Test
cricket. So Nasser Hussain and his men would not have been surprised
to see the little master stroke his way to 88 runs off 144 balls in
the Indian first innings thereby demoralising the inexperienced
English attack. There were the trademark straight drives and the flick
of the wrists to send the ball past the ropes. The little master
punctuated his knock with 13 boundaries and was unlucky to have missed
out on a Test century. Tendulkar's cracking innings was a glowing
example of India's superiority over the visitors; the home team went
on to win the Test match by a whopping ten wickets!
