The third Mark (after Marcus Trecothick and Mark Butcher) amongst the touring squad is Mark Ramprakash. Born in Hertfordshire in 1969, of a British mother and Guyanese father, Mark Ramprakash is an enigma like Graeme Hick. A brilliant batsman who has not fulfilled his potential at the international level. This stylish batsman has been in and out of the England team. A superb century (133) against Australia in the final Test at Oval was his second in 46 Tests. Ramprakash (Test average of 27.81) has the technique to deal with spin and proved exactly that with a classy unbeaten 58 against MCA XI at Mumbai.
