The logo of the UCBSA is designed to represent cricket in South Africa.
It portrays elements that are typically African in look, but undeniably international in
presentation.
The circular logo creates a stable yet dynamic shape.
The typeface chosen is simple yet modern.
The sawtooth pattern is reminiscent of the sun, but more importantly is one of the most
recurrent patterns in African art. It is symbolic of ploughed earth and the little dots placed
therein symbolise seeds, fertility and the potential of growth. This refers particularly to the
development programme which is so vital to cricket in South Africa.
The cricket ball and wickets provide the obvious reference to the sport itself.
The ball is made up of two halves of different colours. The stitching together of these
two halves is a symbol of unity.
