At your request, we have performed certain agreed procedures (described below) in
connection with the funding of expenditure on cricket facilities and sporting
complexes, in terms of the development programme instituted by the United Cricket
Board of South Africa from its inception to 31 October 1996. The controls over
income and expenditure, and the preparation of the attached schedules, are the
responsibility of the Executive Committee of the United Cricket Board of South
Africa. Our responsibility is to report on the agreed procedures.
The procedures we carried out were as follows:
- we ensured, on a test basis, that the amounts recorded as expenditure on the cricket facilities were supported by authorised vouchers.
- we ensured that donations received for specific purposes had been properly allocated to the designated facilities.
- we ensured that gate revenue from international cricket tours into South Africa which had been designated as being for the development programme, had been correctly allocated to such programmes.
In our opinion, the expenditure in respect of the cricket facilities
shown in the attached schedules - amounting to R10 812 392, has been fairly stated
and the income received for the development programmes instituted by the United
Cricket Board of South Africa has been correctly allocated to these specific
programmes.
