Garden

Style
A low rise beach house set in a large garden looking west across Galle harbour towards the Fort. Sunsets are fabulous. Built some 25 years ago by an American interior designer the house has a wide verandah leading out from the sitting room on three sides. The floor in the main part of house containing the sitting room, 2 double bedrooms and the kitchen is a cool blue. The third bedroom is housed separately at one side of the garden.
Location
About 4 km from Galle heading east towards the beach at Unawatuna.
No of bedrooms
3 double bedrooms all with 4 poster beds and fitted mosquito nets. One of the bedrooms has views looking west across the harbour towards the Fort whilst the other two look over the garden.
Bath / shower rooms
Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with showers.
Sleeps
6 peoples
Sitting area
There is a large sitting room with a comfortable sofa and armchairs that opens onto the verandah with planter's/ deck chairs over looking the garden.
Dining area
A round glass table can be moved to any area of the house and garden.
Kitchen / Staff
A small kitchen located next to the sitting room with full appliances. There is a house girl who cooks and bakes her own bread, but you may have to lead the way in the evening. There is a house boy who lives in his own quarters at the rear of the garden. A gardener and night watchman make up to the full compliment of staff.
Meals
The cook will prepare your meals and you will need to discuss with her your requirements. Whilst she is familiar with some basic western dishes it is the local variety that she will be more comfortable with. Therefore you should lead the way. For the necessary ingredients either go yourself to any of the daily fish as well as fruit and veg markets or provide the cook/houseboy with some cash and one of them will go. They will keep an account book and receipts for your inspection. There is a small supermarket in Galle which has most of the basic western food products.
Area
Cap Coco is located between the historic Galle Fort that has an increasing supply of restaurants, and Unawatuna that has what was once descibed as 'one of the world's most beautiful bays. There is a deserted 'jungle' beach a short boat ride away and a alocal fisherman will happily take you there. The real joy of Cap Coco is its large garden and views over the harbour towards the Fort. A virtual paradise for bird life. The world heritage site of Galle Fort is just 4km away and contains a number of gem and antique shops. Entering the Fort through either the English or Dutch gates and you seem to enter a different country. The Fort has its own 'village' atmosphere and its gentle pace is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the town. There is a large museum in the Fort that has artifacts dating back to the 16 century and the time of the Portugese. The oldest Protestant church in Sri Lanka -dating from 1755 shares the spiritual guidance of the locals with a Buddhist temple; a beautiful Mosque; aswell as an Anglican church. Sunset strolls around the ramparts is a much favoured past time with the locals although it can get crowded at weekends. The ramparts also provide a natural grandstand view when a Cricket Test match is being played. There are one or two great restaurants in the area that are relaxed and fun as well as serving excellent fayre. Yoga and massage services can be arranged at the villa although the providers are limited so this is very much subject to availability and the price can vary.
