Tom
Benade
Promising Academy all-rounder Tom Benade is fortunate
to have a second chance after suffering an error that was not his fault.
Having been omitted from the original CFX Academy intake for 2002 due
to an administrative error, he was offered a place when Hamilton Masakadza
withdrew to go to university in South Africa, and he has seized the opportunity

Barney
Rogers
Barney Rogers comes from a cricket-loving family, his
father having played first-team cricket at school and his uncle Brian
for the national schools team in 1974 and 1975. [More]
Blessing
Mahwire
The emergence of Blessing Mahwire as a promising cricketer
is notable, not simply because he is a black player who could become a
genuine all-rounder but also because he comes from Masvingo, a province
where cricketing roots are still quite shallow. [More]

Kingsley
Went
Kingsley Went, who lives in Mutare and plays for Manicaland,
was one of the 2000 students at the CFX Academy. He is a promising top-order
batsman who used to keep wicket at times but is now developing his off-spin
bowling. [More]
NEWS
CFX Academy Media open day
The CFX Academy held a Media Open Day on the morning of Monday 29 April,
which was attended by ten local media representatives, including CricInfo
and one pressman each from Bulawayo and Mutare.
The
morning began with refreshments at ten o’clock, and was followed by a
welcome from administration manager Temba Mkhosana. He followed this with
a brief history of the Academy, the brainchild of Dave Houghton, and a
video of the South African SuperSport programme Extra Cover, which showed
Mike Haysman interviewing Houghton about the Academy. [More]
