To Helen in Cumbria
You could play for Furness or there are teams at Blackpool, Lytham St Annes, Preston and Burnley. Give me a ring on 01254 662766 and I will let you have contact numbers. Or ring Mrs Sylvia White on 01706 374475 - she is the Chairman of the Lancashire Women's Cricket Association.

I agree with the views expressed by Meera Arun on 3rd Oct. It came as a pleasant surprise to see quality articles from the pen of Shantha Rangaswamy on a different website. It is amazing that a sports person is so well equipped in a journalist's role. As a leading cricket website, it will only enhance your reputation to sign up a celebrity writer like her. Cricket lovers hope to read her articles on your website soon.

Having played cricket for my Uni team last year, I have since graduated and would like to continue playing.
Does anyone know of any teams in the Luton and surrounding area???
Suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Cheers
Fizz.

It is rather absurd that mr.prasad has highlighted only the commissions of the selection of arati vaidya and missing out reshma gandhi. it is sad that as a follower of women's cricket he has not touched about the inclusion of chanderakantha aheer who has not played even one match in india in the last season, whereas all the girls have slogged it out at the nationals and zonals. what do you call that selection. why has he only earmarked arati.it is either he is in league of pro-reshma gandhi clan and not in the interest of women's cricket and anti-arati vaidya. he has not been fair to claim that arati is not fit for one dayers. that clearly shows he has not been following arati's progress in the local leagues. lets not be biased with only england tour as a base. even dravid was written off from one dayer but his stint with kent is a clear measure of any player's mettle and today he is the every much a one-down asset to indian cricket. let the best team play and win the world cup for india. what else do we dream.
the selectors from five zones do not have the time to meet nor have they watched all the matches/players. also each zone should have their best lady player as their selector who knows the girls better than a gent selector. either the women do not have quality committed ex-players, to take on the mantle of selectors post or the women's association does not have the inclination to make this a mandate. yes, when men's version is without women in their ranks at any apex level than why not only women selectors for wcai.it needs guts and conviction to follow this. five ladies in the selection committee would not be easy to have yes players in the team. a combination of men and women tends to play soft either way due to ethics.its time to correct this ommission and give credit to the women cricketers of the past who have blazed the country/state and use their services for the better of sports and cricketers.lets hope the wcai gets up from their sleep and slumber.all the best to the indian women's cricket team and hope they bring the world cup in this new century and good wishes and luck to arati vaidya to silence her critics and personal enemies.

Please help! I played for Cumbria Girls under15s this summer at the Ampleforth girls festival, but as i don't qualify for under15s anymore, is there anywhere I can get information on playing for a club in lancashire that could help me keep up my interest?

I am a avid follower of Womens cricket. My query,if u can arrange to clarify by the selection committee (women)is that in the latest list of 20 probables i was surprised to find the name of Arti Vaidya. As far as my knowledge goes she was not made to play in any of the one day matches during the Indian teams tour of England since she was considered as a test match player how come now she is suddenly choosen for the world cup the matches of which are only one dayers.Further please clarify on my behalf why Reshma Gandhi has been dropped although she has made the most of the limited chances given to her during that tour.My view is that you are in a correct position to get it clarified for the viewers of your website. There are many more gross discrepancies in the selection that is going on since there is no accountability whereby many good quality cricketers are being sidelined by the selection committee .They are just interested in getting there girls inside the team.I am just waiting for the day when the final 15 will be selected and I will have many more queeries which I am sure you, through your website, will get it clarified.

It is surprising that you have not been able to get a celebrity like Shantha Rangaswamy to write for you even though you are hosting the World Cup. Her articles that appear in a different web site are some of the best ever written, even among the men cricketers.Better do something, late than never.

I am fulltime involved in Girls and Womans cricket in Northerns (Pretoria, South Africa). It is with great pleasure that I can say things are happening. Although slow, I do think that the attitude towards womans cricketers are changing. It is up to all of us - meaning players - to get out there and help our unions to promote the game. By showing that we want the sport to grow we will get more support from structures already in place for men.
Regarding the girl who is not allowed to play for the boys side. As far as I know - and I stand to be corrected - the UCB determines that no girl can play in a national tournament for boys as of the u12 or u13 age groups. With girls cricket structures in place in North West she will be expected to fall in there. I sincerely hope that your province can accomodate her - we might lose a future star due to ignorance!

Anyone living in Surrey (or SW London), who is looking to join a women's cricket club, should contact the Surrey Women's Cricket Development Officer, Sharon Eyers, on 01483 598882 because she will be able to advise you of all the options in your area.
However, if you are interested in joining a thriving women's cricket club in Shepperton (just down the Thames from Hampton Court), then check out our website, which we are planning to revamp during the close season.

A clean sweep for the soft South in the English domestic club competitions this year! Congratulations to Invicta and Gunnersbury on winning the League and Cup competitions respectively. I have not heard how the Plate Final turned out yet, but since it was between Brighton and Hambledon, it's a safe bet that there was a Southern winner!
All the very best of luck to all members of the English and Irish(featuring 3 Shepperton players) squads for the World Cup in NZ. We're also quite fond of the South Africans (as long as they're not playing England or Ireland) because we had a wonderful tour there in 1999 and experienced the most awesome hospitality.

I would like to congratulate the Pakistan Women's Cricket Team on their fantastic win over the MCC, August 2000. I was there personally to witness my home team, and also because of the historic importance of the day. It was the first ever Oneday International that the MCC side played after 212years. After opening the membership for women, in 1999. KNowing that the Pakistani team is just new on the world cricketing scene, i was mentally prepared to see the MCC side in command, but, to my surprise, the Pakistani women cricketers, displayed an all round performance of skilled bowling and feilding. And to further surprise me, the Pakistan side chased the MCC target of 143, with 11 overs to spare.
I must comment, that the women cricketers of our country are none less than theie counterparts. I also met the Captain of the Pakistani team, Shaiza Khan, and what she told me, came as a surprise. That being one of the leading teams in the cricketing world, the womens' sid eis denied all faciliteis by the so called "MENS" Board.
I hope that the "Mens Board" wakes up and comes in term with the 20th Century mentality, that all individuals require respect, despite their gender!!! I wish the women's side all the best and would like to congratulate crckinfo in the good display of support for women's cricket.
Thanks,
Sarah.

regarding Hein Austin's query about his daughter not being allowed to play in the boys team. i am an ex south african from roodepoort, and in my time there i was allowed to play in my school's boys team, in high school and in primary school. i am really surprised that your daughter is not allowed to play in her school team. i am one hundred percent behind you, she should be allowed to play!!!!!! i now live in new zealand and i am doing really well in my cricket because i got the oppertunity to play with the boys when i was young and i firmly believe that it improved my cricket. you should definitely press the issue!!!!

Can anyone advise me on how I can get playing cricket? I am a student in London and the prob is that all university sport is on Wedneday afternoons which for me is taken up with my rowing. Ideally I'd like to play at week-ends. Obviously Im a bit late for this year's season but maybe I can dedicate winter to honing my new-found cricket skills and take the world by storm next summer! (you never know!)

Please could you tell me where the final of the Final of the Cup knockout will take place in Sheffield on Sat Sept 16th 2000. I believe the finalists to be Redoubtables and Gunnesbry. I presume you will be doing a publicity item such as the one that was done for the League Final that was played last Saturday between Invicta and Wakefield.

So many complaints about the lack of coverage of womens cricket in South Africa. For the past 6 months now there has been a request on the Womens page within the UCBSA web site for any information regarding the womens game in South Africa. To date only small snippets of information has been received. Come on ladies, get your pens out and send the details to us. We are dying to publish it!

MY DAUGHTER WAS CHOSEN TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA AT THE INDOOR WORLD CUP LATER THIS YEAR. IN ORDER FOR THE TEAM TO TAKE PART THEY MUST EACH PAY R3000.00 WHILE IRONICALLY THE MENS TEAMS PAY NOTHING. WHY DO WOMEN HAVE TO PAY AND THE MEN DON'T? IS THAT NOT DISCRIMINATION? IT IS SHOCKING THAT WOMEN AND MEN ARE SUPPOSED TO BE EQUAL AND YET THE WOMEN ARE TREATED UNFAIRLY! WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS??
