If India's hopes rested fairly and squarely on Sachin Tendulkar's
shoulders, the Australians had an array of bowlers trying to dismiss the
Indian opener. Glenn McGrath usually impeccable, came in for a bit of
stick, as did his partner Damien Fleming. But Nathan Bracken brought into
the attack struck a decisive blow, having Tendulkar caught by Steve
Waugh at short cover in the 16th over of the day. Tendulkar's 38 ball essay
yielded 62 runs, included 11 boundaries and gave India a glimmer of hope.
That hope however was not to last long.
