The Indians were made to follow-on and in the second innings they had a big deficit of 274 runs to conquer to make the Aussies bat again. SS Das (39), S Ramesh (30), Sachin Tendulkar (10) and Saurav Ganguly (48) were all back in the pavilion by the time India got to 232.
