Zimbabwe Tour Message Board

Zimbabwe's Bowling & Fielding appear quite strong. Their weak link is their batting. Why do they not have an expierenced batting Coach? Then the vside will become a very good team with players like Andy Flower, Grant Flower, Murray Goodwin, Neil Johnson, Heath Streak, Alister Cambell, Henry Olonga being good quality players.

For years the Zimbabweans have performed above themselves. The tough time they are having in England should be viewe as a glitch and not terminal. Out of form key players and injuries have made the Zimbabweans look ordinary against a resurgent England. What would be nice to see is a gritty, determined effort at Trent Bridge. Good luck boys!

Having watched some of the Zimbabwe matches on Fox sports in last years world cup and in February of this year, I feel that they capable of beating any team, but I think improving their batting in the middle order is a first priority. Their fielding, and bowling is pretty good apart from that.

Having watched every ball in the test I seen why the Zimbabweans lost in the West Indies and it is because of the bowling attack. If one has an of day the side fails. The batting has to improve or else the side will only get 1-3 tests per series.

Given Zimbabwe's dreadful form and their generally poor test record isn't this an argument for the non-inclusion into tests of Bangladesh?.The last thing cricket needs in its present state is another bad team to make up numbers and improve otherwise ordinary players test records.

We were wandering whether or not its the same person doing the typed commentary as for the first test against Zimbabwe. The reason we ask is he/she seems to have lost there comic edge and we are most disappointed. Can we have another crap ball by a crap bowler that's bolloxed through mid wicket please???

Now Channel 4 has the live coverage of the Test Matches this summer. How come the 2nd Zimbabwe test is not live on channel 4?

Posted by Adam Gallop on 2 Jun 2000
It is an absolute disgrace that we can no longer watch live Test Cricket. Instead Channel 4 chooses to show old movies that nobody has any interest in, and daytime shows that make Richard and Judy look talented. It never happened when the BBC had the cricket.Come on boys I want to watch an England side dish out the stuffing for a change.

Cannot wait for West Indies

Posted by Ben on 3 Jun 2000
I like the fact that we were really informed the cricket was on sky. What I saw was advertisements for cricket on channel 4!

Get rid of Alistair Campbell NOW

Posted by Amit Majumdar on 3 Jun 2000
On Day 4, Zimbabwe's Batting should Click. Murray Goodwin, Neil Johnson, Andy Flower, Alistar Cambell,Stuart Charslie, Heath Streak should stay at the wicket, settle down and should go on to play a long innings. They should put up a brave fight and buckle under pressure to England's bowlers. They shoild not get out cheaply. This is their only chance of getting back in form and prove themselves before the 3 nation triangular series.

As a former Falcon College boy (Oates House 63-68)I wish you all well on Tour and am delighted to see you do so well today. Congrats, guys - you will leave TRent Bridge with fully restored pride and respect. Good luck - Nick

When will John Ward (reporter) ever give credit when it is due and quit looking for excuses whenever England do badly against Zimbabwe?

Posted by Russell on 5 Jun 2000
Tom, if you read this can you give me a ring! Must go to nets or range, too board, arrghhh!

Posted by Lab c101, University of Bristol on 5 Jun 2000
We here in lab c101 think that Hussain should show some guts and sportsmanship by declaring before tea and playing for the win, since its obvious that Zimbabwe want to play for the win. Come on Nasser!!!

Where is Andy Blignaut?

Posted by Andrew Shaw on 6 Jun 2000
The first test had too much background emotion and it was assumed you would loose.... So you did! Events back home are no longer headlines and you realise that no one here really seems to care or understand. CRICKET is what you guys are here for and the 2nd test proved that. I'm an exZim and still have family out there, but nothing makes me happier... BUT more importantly nothing makes me prouder than seeing you do well or win!!! I'm trying to get a day off work to see your onedayer against the Windies. All the very best of luck.

Zimbabwe need a new young fast bowler to replace Mbwanga, how about Travis Friend.Mbwanga is a one day bowler. Alistair Cambell has been streching the limits for quite a while now, get rid of him and give Mark Vermeulen a go.
