(Harare
2nd Test 15-19 Jun 2001)
Set a target of 157 for what would be a memorable win, Zimbabwe made heavy
weather of their run chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Whittall
(10), Ebrahim (20) Campbell (13), Grant Flower (3) and Streak (8) failed to
apply themselves. Stuart Carlisle fought a lone battle, defying the Indian
bowling with grit and determination. Blignaut cracked a quickfire 16 to
relieve the pressure a little and it was left to the injured Andy Flower to
come out and hit a couple of boundaries to complete the victory. Carlisle
remained not out on a match winning 62. Blignaut was named the Man of the
Match for his good all-round performance. SS Das took the Man of the Series
award. The Test series (and hence the Zimbabwe Sun Trophy) was shared 1-1.
