July 5th week It's a year ago to the day that my Mum died. My Dad was watching today and it meant quite a lot to me. - John Crawley after his century in the England second innings. I am not playing a race card but Lord's need to be made aware that rudeness is not an option. I first covered cricket in England in 1990 and Lord's is the only ground where this attitude persists. Rudeness is institutionalised. - Harsha Bhogle after one of the stewards abused him and his fellow-ESPN colleague. Andrew Flintoff plays and misses more often in an innings than I did in a week. - Geoffrey Boycott. Maybe he was drunk and wanted to pay homage to the greatest batsman in the world. But what if it had been someone else and he had been assaulted with a knife. Naturally Sachin feels bitter about the incident. - Indian team manager, Ranga Reddy talking about the breach of security, which saw a spectator step on to the field and put a consoling arm around Sachin Tendulkar, after the latter was dismissed in the second innings. On what was still a flat wicket, inexperienced bowlers showed what can be done when you stay fully focused. Jones in particular progressed from what some people see as a bang-it-in-Billy to a disciplined fast bowler. - England captain Nasser Hussain on the excellent show by his bowlers on the third day. He's done well. When a new guy comes in you feel threatened but I'm hoping I can rely on my experience to get me back in. - Andrew Caddick on Simon Jones. I was very shocked when she showed up because I wasn't expecting to see her until September. - Simon Jones on hearing that his girlfriend, who lives in Singapore, was among the spectators on the opening day of the Lord's Test. To go past one of his all-time heroes in Graham Gooch - and do it at Lord's with that ovation - just shows what the country and his team- mates, for that matter, think of him. - Nasser Hussain on Alec Stewart becoming England's most-capped Test cricketer.
