- Klusener gets hero's welcome in South Africa   JOHANNESBURG, June 23 (AFP) A dejected Lance Klusener, the cricket World Cup's player of the tournament, got a hero's welcome from hundreds of South Africans when he arrived home at Johannesburg airport Wednesday.
Klusener told reporters that winning the Man of the Series was a ''great honour'' but little consolation for the drawn semi-final match with Australia which ended South Africa's run.

The extreme reactions by cricket fans in the sub-continent everytime their team fares below expectations can be a dangerous trend in the times to come. Burning of effigies of their once-upon-a-time heroes just reflects the fickle-mindedness of the cricket fans who have become much more demanding, mainly due to the hype that surrounds the team these days.

- Waugh is perfect leader for the team of talents   June 22 (Michael Henderson ) The final disappointed, being too one-sided for general enjoyment, but the World Cup did not. Although it took time to get going, as these competitions often do, there was plenty to admire in the Super Six stage and by the time Australia and South Africa contested that monumental semi-final at Edgbaston it had become genuinely memorable.
