Catching in the deep:
Move only after you have judged the pace and flight of the ball. Run
towards the ball, keeping it in sight all the time and control the
temptation to look at the ground.
Keep the head still and hands relaxed as you reach the ball. Form a
cup with your palms, with the fingers pointing outward & allow the
ball to fall at the base of the fingers, at about eye level.
As the ball falls in the cup, close the fingers and draw the hands
down towards your chest to complete the catch. The eyes must be on the
ball till it is caught safety. Take care not to run in too early when
a catch comes your way, as it is easier to run forward and take a
catch than it is to run behind and take it.
