The Indian senior team are drifting from loss to loss in
Australia. An utterly disappointing Test series is being followed
by an equally shocking run in the One-Dayers. However, this is
not the time for a depressing postmortem of the sequence of
events. It is time to let go of the shortcomings of the seniors

U-19 World Cup: Player of the Day, Yuvraj Singh (16 Jan 2000)
When India were looking down the barrel at 38 for 4 it needed
someone to play a blinder to get them out of trouble. That
blinder came from Yuvraj Singh. The left hander dealt some of the
most cruel blows of the day and smashed the hapless Kiwi bowlers
all over the park. His 62 ball knock yielded 68 runs. The 12
boundaries that he spanked in the course of his innings often

Yuveraj - a bright prospect among the junior crop (15 Jan 2000)
If we are to rate ability in men by what they accomplish and not
by just what they attempt, then young Yuveraj Singh is possibly
the brightest prospect from the present junior crop.The left-
hander from Punjab had the country's cricketing circle sit up and
take notice when he cracked a triple hundred, 358 to be precise,
against Bihar in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy National
under-19 cricket championship in Jamshedpur. This, after he had
made 122 against Madhya Pradesh in the semifinals and a half

Punjab's run riot on final day (19 Dec 1999)
The Punjab batsmen, led by Yuvraj Singh, just kept piling on the
agony for Bihar on the fourth and final day of the Cooch Behar
Trophy (under-19) final at the Keenan stadium in Jamshedpur on
Sunday. Having already made sure of winning the title on
Saturday, Punjab who were 431 for two at close of play on the
third day in reply to Bihar's first innings total of 357, batted
the whole day and ended with the mammoth score of 839 for five in
854 minutes off 222 overs. [More]
