A debut to savour for Das
Shiv Sunder Das made his first class debut in February 1994 against Madhya Pradesh at Indore's Nehru Stadium. The stage was the Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinals and Das was just 16 years old. Orissa won the toss and chose to make first use of the wicket. Hosts MP had gone into the game with a three man spin attack comprising Narendra Hirwani, Sunil Lahore and DV Parmar who bagged nine wickets between them.

Das punishes Delhi with massive hundred
Orissa and Delhi clashed in the 1998-99 Ranji Trophy Super League at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. This was the final engagement for both teams and after lying dormant for the better part of the Super League, the Orissa batsmen erupted into a flurry of activity in this particular fixture. None more so than Shiv Sunder Das.

Century in each innings for Das
One of the finest moments of young Shiv Sunder Das' career came in a 1997-98 Ranji Trophy Super League tie against Punjab at Berhampur. Orissa were drawn in the strong Group A along with Karnataka and Mumbai and had an unhappy beginning losing their first two games by an innings to the two afore-mentioned giants.

Das props up Orissa with two handy efforts
Orissa began the 1999-2000 Ranji Trophy season on a bright note. They got the better of Bihar on first innings in their opening game, captain Shiv Sunder Das scoring 94 and 44 not out. And Das was to play a stellar role again in Orissa's second engagement, against regional powerhouse Bengal, held at the same venue - the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack - and producing the same result.
