Badani pitchforks himself onto centrestage
Hemang Badani chose the occasion of the Ranji Trophy semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in April 2000 to announce himself onto the national stage. Although he had a rather ordinary start to the season, Badani recovered his touch with two fifties and a hundred in the matches leading upto this clash with Mumbai. Tamil Nadu lost the toss and were invited to take first strike by Mumbai skipper Sachin Tendulkar, secure in the knowledge that he had a four pronged pace attack to exploit the conditions.

Badani shows class on minefield of wicket
By his own admission, Hemang Badani's best innings at any level of the game came against Orissa in a Ranji Trophy Super League clash in 1998-99. The wicket at the Chidambaram Stadium in Madras was a wretched one as Badani pointed out: "It was actually very dangerous, you could get hit any time. You had balls shooting off a good length and flying past your face every now and then."
