Hungerford Cricket Club - Re-formed 1948
Hungerford CC Review 2001
Hungerford .. struggled for much of the season and ended up being relegated into SPL2. Having
lost a significant number of their twice-winning championship side - David Pryke, Steve Wyatt,
Jim Ettridge, Julian Wood and Duncan Johnson all departed - Hungerford knew they were in for a
difficult time.
To add to their woes, captain Toby Radford suffered with acute back problems and managed to play
only twice and immigration irregularities prevented the club from registering an overseas player.
Some fine batting by Hampshire's Jason Laney helped Hungerford win two of their opening six
matches, but events went downhill after that, despite some useful performances by Danny Williams,
who won his first Berkshire cap.
Wales Minor Counties all-rounder Owen Dawkins, once of the MCC Groundstaff, has taken over the
captaincy at the War Memorial Ground, where several interesting newcomers are set to parade their
skills this summer.
