The other notable event in the Zimbabwe innings was the arrival
of Andy Flower, wearing a black arm-band as a mark of protest
against the dictatorial regime of Robert Mugabe. He and team-mate
Henry Olonga, who joined in the protest, described their decision
as "a silent plea to those responsible to stop the abuse of human
rights in Zimbabwe". Another significant gesture came when Andy
left the field after making a rapid-fire 39; the elder Flower
lofted his bat and acknowledged the crowd as if to say good-bye.
