Netherlands needed an exceptional start if they were to even come
anywhere near to giving the Australians a scare. But Jason
Gillespie ensured that the Men in Orange would never be in
contention by dismissing opener Daan van Bunge for just eight.
Four overs later, he added a second scalp, that of Bas Zuiderent
(5 off 17 balls). After Gillespie's devastating opening burst,
the result of the game was a foregone conclusion. Almost all the
remaining Australian bowlers too got among the wickets, as the world champions
sealed an emphatic 75-run win.
