The 244-run second wicket partnership between Tendulkar and
Ganguly, which came at almost a run a ball, then, propelled the
Indians to 311/2 in their 50 overs. It was the highest score at
the picturesque Pietermaritzburg ground, which had only hosted
one ODI previously - the recently-concluded World Cup match
between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Chasing down such a mammoth
total was never going within the realms of possibility for the
inexperinced Namibians.
