When New Zealand began their chase, skipper Stephen Fleming (32
off 40 balls) and Craig McMillan (75 off 83 balls) provided their
team with the ideal platform. Scott Styris and Chris Cairns then
took over and guided their side to emphatic seven-wicket win with
more than 16 overs to spare. Cairns, playing his first match
since being involved in a controversial incident at a Durban
night-club, made a typically hard-hitting 33 not out off 21 balls
with the aid of three fours and one beefy six, straight over the
pavilion off Alok Kapali.
