With next man Scott Styris falling after making just five, it fell
upon Nathan Astle and Chris Cairns to keep New Zealand in the match.
This they did with a 64-run fourth wicket partnership before Wavell
Hinds struck. Bowling his brand of gentle medium-pace, Hinds removed
Astle and Cairns in the space of 11 runs. He then went on to add a
third scalp, that of Lou Vincent, to leave New Zealand struggling at
147/6 in the 33rd over.
