Faced with a must-win situation, New Zealand opened with Daniel
Vettori and Stephen Fleming after being sent in by the West Indies at
Port Elizabeth on Thursday. It was only Vettori's second outing as New
Zealand opener in ODIs, but he still managed to help his skipper add
42 runs for the first wicket. After Fleming's dismissal at that stage,
Vettori went on to add a further 16 runs with No 3 Nathan Astle before
falling for 13 off 25 balls.
