It is mind-boggling that Tendulkar has crossed the fifty-run mark in one-day internationals 84 times in all. The year 2001 was a highly productive one, with three fifties and four hundreds blazing off his bat from 17 matches. A big 139 against the Australians at Indore was followed by a 62 at Margoa. In Zimbabwe, Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 70 against the home team and then went on to register more unbeaten knocks of 81 and 122 against the West Indies. On the tour of South Africa, he opened with 101 against the Proteas at Johannesburg and then made a mammoth 146 against the Kenyans at Paarl.
