Harvinder Singh was lucky to be selected for the Zimbabwe tri-series in the first place. The selectors ought to have chosen Ashish Nehra - who had already served notice of his talents - in the initial squad of 14. Nehra was later asked to stay back, leaving the team with an additional member. In the event, Harvinder's presence served to provide the other seamers some respite for the last two dead fixtures in the round-robin league. The Railways seamer bowled moderately well but in less seamer-friendly conditions in Sri Lanka he was never going to be in the reckoning.
