Deep Dasgupta has been a blessing in disguise for Indian cricket. The
stumper was asked to open the innings in the second Test in South
Africa and ever since, he has not looked back. He scored his first
Test hundred (100) at Mohali, an innings of true character and grit.
He was instrumental in giving India a good start, adding 136 valuable
runs for the third wicket with Rahul Dravid. He had a good Test match
as a wicket-keeper too, standing up to the explosive spin of Kumble
and Harbhajan Singh.
