"First there is God and then there is Ganguly!" , remarked Rahul Dravid
about his teammate's sublime skill in striking the ball through the off
side. After a disastrous tour of Australia in 1991-92, where he did not get
a chance to play in a Test match, Ganguly had to fight his way back into
the national side with some impressive performances in domestic cricket. He
was selected for the English tour in the year 1996. India lost the first
Test match at Edgbaston by eight wickets. Two Indian players made their
debut in the second Test match at Lord's, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.
Time has its own ways of dealing with life. In a matter of five years
Ganguly became the skipper of the Indian side and Dravid his deputy.
