Negombo
Situated
48 km north of Colombo. After breakfast, leave Colombo for a day's
excursion to Negombo, which is a famous fishing village in Sri Lanka.
Later, proceed on a sight seeing tour. Visit the Dutch canals, churches,
fishing village, market place & bazaar area. Lunch at a restaurant
savoring a fresh seafood lunch, which is a specialty of the village.
Afternoon at leisure by the beach. Late afternoon return to Colombo.

Kandy
|
Situated 122 kms northwest
from Colombo towards the hilly area of the country. Depart from hotel after
breakfast and drive to Kandy. Enroute, the first stop would be at a pineapple
stall in Kirilliwela to enjoy a piece of delicious fresh pineapple. Then
proceed to the Cashew Village and taste some cashew (roasted or salted with
chillies). Then, divert to a village named Pinnawela, which has the famous
orphanage for elephants and observe about 60 elephants at close range including
the wonderful sight of baby elephants being fed and having a bath at a nearby
by river. Arrive in Kandy and tour the bustling city. Visit the Temple of
the Holy Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, the Gem Museum, the Royal Botanical
Gardens, a traditional batik making factory. A stroll around the market
place would also be interesting. After completing the city tour, lunch at
Hotel Topaz. On the return trip to Colombo. On the way, visit a tea factory
in Giragama and then visit a spice garden in Mawanella or Kegalle. walking
through with a guided explanation about many plants, herbs, fruits etc.,
Sample a free head or shoulder massage free of charge. Return to Colombo.

Galle
|
Galle is the pride of
the Dutch Empire since 1663 and is situated by the sea, 122 kms south of
Colombo. The day begins by 0700 hrs. Meet and greet at the hotel and start
journey to Galle. On the way, visit the turtle farm in Kosgoda and a demon
mask making and carving centers in Ambalangoda. On arrival in Galle, venture
on a sight seeing tour. Visit the natural harbor, Dutch Fortress, the 2
km long ramparts now considered a World Heritage Site and the Dutch Museum.
A gourmet lunch at a restaurant inside the fortress while relaxing. Before
departing Galle, take a drive on Upper Dickson Road and view the panoramic
sight of the Galle harbor. On the return journey, stop in Hikkaduwa for
typical tourist shopping and a trip in a glass bottomed boat to view colorful
coral and fish (This is optional and payment direct) |

Sigiriya

Situated
168 kms away from Colombo, Sigiriya dates back to the 5th century A.D. and
is famous for its magnificent frescoes, the world famous works of art. It
is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is called Eighth Wonder of the World.
The day excursion would commence at 0700 hrs after breakfast. Proceed to
Sigiriya. On the way, visit the famous elephant orphanage in Pinnawela,
where you can see about 60 elephants at close range. Feeding and bathing
times are the best to visit this orphanage. On arrival in Sirigiriya, relax
for awhile and then start to climb the rock fortress. Having returned from
the rock, relax and have lunch at Acme Restaurant. Later, drive to Dambulla
and visit the famous cave temple in Dambulla. Dambulla belongs to the 2nd
century B.C. The massive 600 foot high rock enfolds a feast of temple murals
and ceiling paintings with the added attraction of the largest collection
of Buddha statues seen in close proximity. Return to Colombo. |
