The ratings
are generated based on the player's performances in Tests and One
Day internationals over a 12 month period tracing backwards from
the current month. i.e. For the month of September 2001, the ratings
would take into account performances from October 2000. The ratings
system uses the following points for arriving at the "score"
for every player
1- point for
every run
20- points
for every wicket
5 -points
for a dismissal (for fielders)
Performances in
one-day internationals are weighted at 0.75 of the actual value. i.e.
If a player scores 30 runs, takes 2 wickets and a catch in a one-dayer,
he would get a score of 0.75x(30x1+2x20+1x5)=56.25 points while if
this same performance was in a test match, he would get 75 points.
The standings are updated every month.
