CricInfo hosted a chat with one of the most respected coaches
in the contemporary game, Steve Rixon, on 18th May, 09.30 AM
IST.
|
|
Rixon is best known in recent times for his role in
coaching New Zealand's national side between May 1996 and August 1999 and
transforming the Black Caps into one of the cricketing world's more
hardened and competitive international teams.
|
|
Previously, he was among Australia's more respected band of
wicketkeeper-batsmen during a first class career which spanned more
than 150 matches (most of them for New South Wales in domestic
competition) and encompassed thirteen Tests and six one-day
internationals.
|
|
Also resting on his long list of credits is the distinction of
coaching New South Wales (guiding it to the phenomenal tally of three
Sheffield Shield titles and three domestic one-day crowns no less)
during the five year period between 1989-90 and 1994-95.
|
|
Having recently arrived back in Australia, he will return to his old
stamping ground of the Sydney Cricket Ground in the 2000-01 season to
once again confront the challenge of steering the now ailing Blues
back toward the top. For the moment though, Steve Rixon fields your
questions on all aspects of cricket and on his vast experience in, and
knowledge of, the sport.
