Interview with Greg Chappell:
Greg Chappell was in Chennai for a visit to the MRF Pace
Foundation. CricInfo's Anand Vasu met him for an exclusive
interview.
- On being in Sir Don Bradman's shadow: It's interesting. I think all batsmen who have
come into the game since Sir Donald Bradman are always going to have
to be resigned to the fact that they cannot match the feats that he
performed for some many years for Australia.

- On coming from a family with a rich tradition on Cricket: The whole
environment as youngsters was sport oriented.Cricket was the primary
game, but we also played baseball.

- On His Best Innings: I think the best innings that I played,
considering the conditions and the state of the game was at Lords in
1972.

- What makes Australia such a great team: I think, from an Australian
point of view it is the culture that has developed. I think it has
always been there and has got refined as the years have gone by.

- On the infamous"underarm" delivery: It had more to do with what was
going on in Australian cricket at that time. How did the opposition
team react to this incident.

- On the high calibre of Australian cricketers: I think our domestic
structure is very good. Our club cricket and particularly domestic
first class cricket is very competitive and very strong.

- His involvement as an ambassador for Griffith University: We've
launched the Griffith University International Institute of Sport
which basically marries education with sport. It's not new in the
world, the Americans have been doing it for so many years.

- On turning down the offer to coach Glamorgan: I took some time in
making the decision. I thought long and hard about it.

- On being named as a part of he ACB's "team of the century": It was a
great honour and a very humbling exercise.

- On the allegations floating around match -fixing: his is a
disappointing time for cricket. Obviously we'd like to believe that
